Spooky Butt 3: Co-parasitic / Microbial regression

Before falling into a deep sleep, the innards of the Spooky Butt will let us take a look at its tubular structure. For the third time in the exhibition series, we will focus on a further aspect of embodiment and its related horrors. If we think of the body as a vessel, a container of everything from which the self and the “other-than-self” arise, we might expand the conceptual relation that the concept of “Body” has towards the notion of “Coexistence”. This relation is usually reduced to the convivence of bodies which is generalised as the “social”. In the third chapter of this visceral implosion, we want to explore the opposite: a sociality that is not inter- but intradependant.

Laura Lintrup's sculptural work strengthens and magnifies the dimensional imagination we have of residents of another scale. With every step through Leon Eissermann's installation, we shall narrow the distance between our social expectations and hygiene taboos. Sebastian Mittel's paintings transpose us into an imaginative dimension through pictographic vertigo. A car crash, an evolutionary trace of Ribonucleoproteins serve here as indexical guidelines. Petr Nápravník's work explodes the stomach of the catacombs and fragments it into uncountable pieces of its evident demise. Lukas Posch performs a formal investigation of the nervous system inside our body – and with the connections out of it – via the media of expanded painting. Štěpán Brož's painting approach revives the importance of imagination and lucid dreaming...

Join the last journey to the catacombs to find out, if there is a satisfactory way out of the physical and question, whether we’ve really been trapped in it the whole time or it was just a projection of our minds, while we have in fact always been part of a larger and rather unlocalized Self.
