Writing Letters to Belarusian Political Prisoners – Accompanying Program to the Performance Jedu do Magadanu, taking place at Cellar Stage 19:30.

As of February 29, 2024, there were 1,402 prisoners in Belarusian prisons who are considered unjustly imprisoned (prisoners.spring96.org/en). Among them are bloggers, entrepreneurs, activists, and other ordinary people who felt the need to express their disagreement with the current Belarusian regime in any way. They face imprisonment often based on absurd charges, which the regime uses to intimidate and silence other opponents.

In prisons, detainees are deliberately kept in isolation from the outside world — contact with their families is denied, and they often cannot afford a lawyer. Every letter or postcard that reaches them through the prison walls thus provides a small yet invaluable source of psychological support and a link to the distant reality they once knew.

Come join us in showing support for the unjustly imprisoned in Belarus. In a time when it seems like their struggle is being forgotten, they need it more than ever. The organizers will provide all the materials necessary for writing and sending letters to Belarus.

There will also be an exhibition We Are All Terrorists, showcasing the stories of several Belarusian political prisoners.
