Concert Veronika Svobodová

The event takes place as an accompanying program to the production Pasi Mäkelä: FUGK, which we are presenting on October 1 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cellar Stage of the Centre for Experimental Theatre.

Veronika Svobodová is an audiovisual artist, musician, and scenographer. Her practice blends installation art and performance with an original approach to theatrical scenography. She collaborates with both international and Czech artists in the fields of theatre and experimental music. Currently, she works in the experimental sound-art duo SHRIMP, the puppet theatre collective Škrobotník, Šlundra & Šibrová, and the international group PYL, which focuses on post-dramatic theatre. In her work, Veronika explores the interplay of time, space, and situation. What matters is not only the sound itself but also the way it is shaped. During her sound performances, the audience becomes witness to a narrative in which hand-crafted mechanical devices—straddling the line between musical instruments and art objects—take centre stage alongside sand, wood fragments, slate plates, and pebbles. The movement of these objects and materials is captured by contact microphones, while the sonic layer of the performance emerges from a combination of physical objects, field recordings, and electronic processing.
