The recently formed Prague-based duo of musicians Martina Debřička and Mikuláš Mrva emerges from a shared interest in connecting acoustic instruments — in this case, the saxophone combined with digital post-processing in MAX/MSP — with spatial sound and in exploring the radical possibilities this combination offers. The extreme forms of contemporary music and free improvisation intertwine here with Debřička’s subconscious transformation into a raging bear, creating a sonic spectrum that ranges from delicate droning timbres to the absolute, wailing destruction of musical language.
The event takes place as an accompanying programme to Pasi Mäkelä’s 🐻 FUGK 👺, presented on 3 and 5 December at 7:30 PM on the Cellar Stage of the Centre for Experimental Theatre.
