„Who would you be today if a few things in my past would have happened differently?"
𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓹𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓸𝓷 𝓭𝓸𝓮𝓼 𝓷𝓸𝓽 𝓝𝓞𝓣 𝓮𝔁𝓲𝓼𝓽 is an online performance for a single audience-member. During a 45-minute Zoom videocall, the artist will make a new “human being” in collaboration with a participant and with the help of artificial intelligence.
The dialogue of the artist and the participant creates a process in which both mutually mirror their identities. This “new body” gradually achieves a past, present and future through collective memory, imagination, personal memories and technology.
The performance is an intimate, imaginative process, which allows us to reflect on the processes, experiences, interactions and shared heritage which forms us as human beings. Instead of an isolated individual, we develop the idea of endless exchange of memories and memory traces which we imprint onto others and which others imprint onto us.
Over the span of the dialogue, the performer navigates the participant’s imagination in order to create a person which might not exist, but who very well could have, had a few events in the past happened differently. Accepting this “otherness” creates a situation that changes the perspective of who we are and how we perceive ourselves.
