A New Year’s Eve livestream from the Brno City Councillors’ Club. The ceremonial opening of STÁTKY, a series of art projects created specifically for Czech public holidays.

On January 1, 2026, we will commemorate the holidays New Year’s Day and the Day of the Restoration of the Independent Czech State. The creative team of Matyáš Dlab, Anna Prstková, Libor Brzobohatý, and Kristýna Businská engages with these occasions through a video work broadcast throughout New Year’s Eve. The opening episode of the STÁTKY series will feature performances, interviews, and micro-lectures, launching a year-long discussion on public holidays as significant instruments of memory politics.

The online event is part of the year-long project STÁTKY, which explores the social significance of public holidays and creates space for their active, radical, and critical reinterpretation. It offers the public the opportunity to experience a unique year of STÁTKY: hybrid events, mutated celebrations, and subversive provocations.
